First, what does the name Nimrod mean? It comes from the Hebrew verb marad, meaning “rebel.” Adding an “n” before the “m” it becomes an infinitive construct, “Nimrod.” (see Kautzsch 1910: 137 2b, also BDB 1962: 597). The meaning then is “The Rebel.” Thus “Nimrod” may not be the character's name at all. It is more likely a derisive term of a type, a representative, of a system that is epitomized in rebellion against the Creator, the one true God. Rebellion began soon after the Flood as civilizations were restored. At that time this person became very prominent.
In Genesis 10:8-11 we learn that “Nimrod” established a kingdom. Therefore, one would expect to find also, in the literature of the ancient Near East, a person who was a type, or example, for other people to follow. And there was. It is a well-known tale, common in Sumerian literature, of a man who fits the description. In addition to the Sumerians, the Babylonians wrote about this person; the Assyrians likewise; and the Hittites. Even in Palestine, tablets have been found with this man's name on them. He was obviously the most popular hero in the Ancient Near East.
Nimrod's purpose was to anger God and rebel against His Law. Now lets talk about these gods. however, to understand their gods, lets now talk of Nimrod. Nimrod who was a great powerful king (not in a good way) had to die. (By the way this is all according to pagan history). His killer had cut him into 13 pieces. His wife Semiramis tried to resurrect him by gathering all the parts of his body. However, the only part she could not find was his male sexual part. She (Semiramis) constructed an obelisk to replace, or better, represent that part. The story goes like this: The sun rays heated the obelisk and through the obelisk the sun rays impregnated Semiramis with the reincarnated Nimrod. Semiramis named her son Tanmuz. So now lets explain who these people are. Nimrod represents the Sun. Therefore, he is known as the sun god, and his phallic symbol is an obelisk. Semiramis represents the moon. Therefore, she is the moon god, and her symbol is a dome (which represents her pregnant state). Tammuz, (the reincarnated Nimrod) represents sex. Therefore, he is known as the god of sexual desire, and his symbol is a cupid. This is all important to remember as we discuss each false deity in different civilizations.
Nimrod:
Egypt - Osiris
Rome - Jupiter

Canaan - Baal
India - Krishna
Other names used for Nimrod in history are as follows:
Semiramis:
Egypt - Isis
Rome - Fortuna

As you can see these are the ancient civilizations that have served these three "gods" since the time of Nimrod and the tower of babel.
